The growing demand and support for impact evaluations has reinforced the need to document the impact of these studies, but also take a more pro-active and targeted approach in order to draw in more supporters and allies. Our advocacy and communications activities aim to ensure accountability and garner support for the programme, and improve the utilization and uptake of our funded studies.
To this end, 3ie is proposing a multi-pronged approach including the following activities:
- Enhance the policy influence of 3ie funded research:3ie will provide policy and communication support to our grantees, and initiate evidence-based campaigns around key findings to build a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
- Promote the use and uptake of policy relevant impact evaluations:we will promote quality IE through engagement with key international networks and policymakers, as well as strategic participation in key policy fora, bilateral meetings and other activities to increase the demand and use of impact evaluation, including the establishment of a Commitment to Evaluation Index.
- Position 3ie as a ‘trusted knowledge broker’ on impact evaluations:we will develop a knowledge management strategy, establish an IE community of practice and publish new findings and approaches through peer reviewed journals and other high standard publications.
- Initiate evidence- based campaigns: 3ie will initiate evidence- based campaigns in partnership with key actors at international, regional and national levels around specific findings of high policy relevance.
- Mobilise funding for impact evaluations to increase the demand for evidence-based policy: As we are establishing our brand and increasing our number of staff and membership base, we will be developing a long-term strategy for fundraising and partnerships.
- Enhance information flow management and internal communication: As the team grows, an effective information sharing system will be designed for internal communications and reporting.
