Improving HIV prevention and treatment with evidence: how to determine which evaluation methods to use, 5 December, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire

3ie is participating in the 19th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) to be held in Abidjan,Côte d’Ivoire, from 4 to 9 December 2017. On 5 December, 3ie-funded researchers will present four studies that use different evaluation methods in generating evidence to improve HIV prevention and treatment outcomes. 3ie funded several studies on various aspects of HIV and AIDS research through thematic windows on HIV self-testing, voluntary medical male circumcision, integration of HIV services and replication of HIV studies.

The session will highlight a formative study that assesses feasibility, a study that assesses how best to implement or improve a service, a study that replicates influential research using original trial data, and a study that assesses whether a new intervention or method works (proof of concept or effectiveness). The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion about how different research methodologies and techniques can be used most effectively to answer different types of questions at different stages of program development. There will also be time for Q&A. For detailed agenda of this conference, please click here
