Knowledge for sustainable development: the research-policy nexus

The Global Development Network (GDN) is partnering with the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) and the United Nations University - Institute for Environment and Human Security hosted its 19th Global Development Conference, Knowledge for Sustainable Development: the Research-Policy Nexus to facilitate the research-policy interface in pursuit of the SDGs. The conference also marked GDN's 20th anniversary since its launch at the World Bank Development Conference in 1999.

Around 400 participants from a diverse group of researchers, policymakers, and representatives of international organizations, civil society, development practitioners and the private sector attended the conference.

This panel of experts will discuss the methodological challenges and opportunities for generating the policy-relevant evidence for implementing the 2030 Agenda. They will also focus on institutional challenges and the role of building up evaluation capacities in developing countries.
