Bridging the gap between education and employment: Youth unemployment remains a pressing challenge across low- and middle-income countries. A promising strategy lies in improving how education systems prepare young people for real-world job markets through technical and vocational education and training (TVET). But what works, and what doesn't?

This event marks the release of 3ie’s first major output under its Learning-to-Earning evidence initiative, conducted in partnership with FCDO. The working paper presents a proposed framework for classifying TVET interventions, identifies key evidence gaps, and highlights the need for more rigorous and policy-relevant research.

This event is designed for policymakers and donors working in education, skills development, and youth employment; program implementers and NGOs operating in low- and middle-income countries; researchers and academics focused on TVET and youth transitions; as well as professionals involved in evidence synthesis and evaluation. Participants will gain insights into the current state of evidence, identify opportunities for engagement, and contribute to shaping future research priorities in the skills-to-employment ecosystem.
