Spotlight Development Evidence Portal: Delivering value in uncertain times |
|
Policymakers today face mounting pressure to make smart decisions with limited resources. That’s where the Development Evidence Portal (DEP) steps in—a free, easy-to-use platform with nearly 20,000 studies that helps decision-makers find credible, actionable evidence quickly. In their latest blog, 3ie Executive Director Marie Gaarder and Synthesis and Reviews Director Birte Snilstveit explain why the DEP isn’t just a database—it’s a vital public good that gives users access to over $5.4 billion worth of research investment. Insights on SDGs from the DEP | Our new blog series on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) explores the evidence base for each of the Global Goals, drawing from the DEP. The first blog unpacks SDG 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions), and shows that while progress is slow, tools like psycho-social support can make a difference.
We’re also spotlighting regional trends. Our recent blog on South Asia shows that: - About 40% of studies had no local authors from the country where research took place
- Over half of all impact evaluations in the region were conducted in India

FeaturedEvidence for learning-to-earning transitions Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and skills programs are considered a promising approach to help young people gain the skills needed to get a job. As countries seek to improve education-to-work outcomes, what does the evidence say about interventions that actually support successful transitions for youth? In this blog, we introduce findings from our new synthesis and what they mean for designing effective, scalable programs.
Read the blog | Read the working paper If you work in the TVET and skills space, this is your chance to help shape the next steps. Learn about 3ie’s new framework on mapping learning-to-earning pathways, explore how it can support your work, and share your feedback to strengthen its relevance and utility across the sector.
