Behaviour change intervention to prevent HIV among women living in low- and middle-income countries

This review by Sandra McCoy et al. suggests that behavioural change interventions alone have been limited in their ability to control HIV transmission among women in low- and middle-income countries. However, despite the lack of high quality evidence on effectiveness there is an ethical responsibility to educate women about HIV infection and offer accurate prevention and risk reduction information. Elements of behaviour change interventions are necessary to complement biomedical prevention strategies, but further research is needed to determine how this is implemented most effectively.
