Edited by Mark Lipsey and Eamonn Noonan, this paper argues that better evidence drawn from high quality primary research needs to be synthesized in a way that shows not only what works, but why and how it works. Decision makers need comprehensive, unbiased syntheses of credible evidence to make well-informed choices. Finding ways to attain the integration of research and practice may be the greatest of the many challenges for evidence-based practice.
